Facts Jokes N Fun
Sex and the City is, by far, one of the best television shows ever. For the longest time, I could never understand what all the hype was about. Then one day, I finally watched two episodes of it and was hooked. A week later I found myself running to buy them all on DVD, and after making my mom and friends watch it a few times, they were hooked, too, even my boyfriend, although, he’d never admit it.
The show is about four women and their love lives, or lack of. Though, it’s definitely not a drama/romance based show. It has its fair share of love in it, but it’s more about dating, their sex lives, and being single. It also touches on other things, like marriage, fashion, parenting, and pretty much every other issue the average women goes through. And even though it doesn’t seem like it, it’s also very compelling. There are some episodes that will make you laugh until cry and others that just make you cry.
The show is hip and refreshing and most importantly, it’s real. In fact, I would say it is the only realistic show for women out there. It focuses on real relationship problems, not made-up drama that would never happen to you. I think it really has something every woman can relate to. For example, some of the issues it touches on are cheating, commitment problems, impotence, ex’s, and a variety of other things that real women have to deal with in their everyday lives.
Another great thing about the show is that the characters are realistic and almost everyone can relate to at least one of the women. The main character is Carrie, who is basically the all-American girl. She’s smart, sexy, and successful and has an obsession with shoes. She’s not really looking for love, but she’s not hiding from it either, and she has a few really serious relationships and a lot of flings. Then there’s sweet, innocent Charlotte. Charlotte is the classic optimist who believes in true love and desperately wants to find it, and while she’s in touch with her sexual side, she’s not as open about it as the other women. You also have the pessimistic smart-ass, Miranda, who is basically the opposite of Charlotte, and probably the best friend on the show. She’s always there for Carrie in her times of distress with her compassion and her calm, collectiveness. And, of course, you can’t forget Samantha, the sex goddess. She thinks relationships are a waste of time and love is a joke, so she spends her time have casual sex-only relationships with whoever strikes her fancy at that time.
The characters are women you can relate to, the storylines are real, and the show is incredible. Not only is it realistic and something you can relate to, it’s just plain fun to watch, and it has something for everyone. I highly recommend this show to every woman out there. Of course, I wish more men would watch it, too, because it might help them get a better perspective on women and relationships.
